What to expect in a student naturopath appointment

Your appointment includes a detailed discussion of your health history, current symptoms, medications, physical examinations (nails, tongue, iridology, blood pressure) supplements, lifestyle factors and health goals. I will take the time to understand how your symptoms developed and what may be contributing to them.

Following your consultation, you will receive a personalised treatment plan approved by my clinical supervisor. Your treatment plan may include dietary and lifestyle recommendations, herbal medicine if indicated, and referrals for pathology or functional health testing where appropriate.

Please note that herbal medicines, supplements and any recommended testing are an additional cost.

What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy supports health through natural, evidence-informed therapies, including nutrition and herbal medicine. It is based on the principle that the body has an inherent capacity to heal when given the right conditions. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, naturopathic care considers how physical health, body systems (organs such as the thyroid), mental wellbeing and lifestyle factors interact to influence overall health.

Treatment is highly individualised, with care designed to identify and address the underlying causes of symptoms rather than simply managing them. By using targeted nutrition, lifestyle strategies and herbal medicine, naturopathy aims to correct imbalances, support the body's natural healing processes and promote long-term health and wellbeing.

Naturopathy is not a quick-fix approach. The time required to see improvements varies depending on factors such as age, symptom severity and how long health concerns have been present. Follow-up consultations are recommended to monitor progress, refine treatment plans and provide ongoing support, helping to achieve lasting and sustainable health outcomes.
Benefits of naturopathy
Naturopathy offers a holistic approach to health, focusing on supporting the whole person rather than simply treating individual symptoms. A naturopathic consultation explores how factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, environment and overall wellbeing may be contributing to your health concerns.
This comprehensive assessment helps identify underlying factors that may be influencing your symptoms and guides the development of an individualised treatment plan.

Naturopathic and herbal medicine may provide support for a wide range of health concerns, including:
✦ Digestive and gastrointestinal health (including IBS, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and reflux)
✦ Low energy, fatigue and immune health
✦ Stress, anxiety, sleep difficulties and general wellbeing
✦ Hormonal health, menstrual concerns, fertility support and premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
✦ Women's, men's and adolescent reproductive health
✦ Perimenopause, menopause and post-menopausal support
✦ Skin conditions, including acne, eczema and psoriasis
✦ Weight management and metabolic health
✦ Cardiovascular health, including cholesterol and blood pressure support
✦ Joint, muscle and musculoskeletal health, including arthritis and age-related degenerative conditions
Why choose naturopathy
Naturopathy also places a strong emphasis on prevention and long-term wellbeing. Rather than providing a temporary solution, the goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to make sustainable changes that support your health well into the future. Naturopathic care can complement conventional medical treatment and, where appropriate, work alongside your GP and other healthcare professionals to provide an integrated, evidence-informed approach to your care.
Coming 2027
Herbal Medicine Prescribing
In 2027, Perth Nutrition & Natural Health Clinic will expand further as Renae completes her Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathic Medicine, opening the door to a wider scope of naturopathic prescribing and more in-depth clinical support. This will enhance the level of personalised care available, bringing together herbal medicine, tailored nutrition, dietary strategies and targeted supplementation to support your health in a truly integrated way so you can feel clearer, stronger and more balanced over time.

This expansion will also see the addition of a full herbal dispensary, including herbal medicines, herbal teas, tinctures, Bach flower essences and glycerites (alcohol-free options suitable for children and those sensitive to alcohol).

Herbal prescribing adds a powerful new dimension to clinical nutrition care. Medicinal plants have been used for thousands of years, and there is a strong and growing evidence base supporting their role in modern health care.

When herbal medicine is used alongside personalised nutrition, dietary strategies and targeted supplementation, it creates a more complete and individualised approach to care, supporting not just symptom relief but also the deeper drivers of health, helping you achieve more meaningful and sustainable results over time.
