Why practitioner-only supplements matter
Not all supplements are created equal
Walk into any pharmacy, discount drug store or supermarket and you will find walls of vitamins and supplements. While they are legal to sell, there is a very difference in how clinically effective they are.
The supplement industry is largely unregulated in terms of quality, dose, and ingredient form, and the products available over the counter reflect that.

They are manufactured to higher standards, use ingredient forms that your body can actually absorb and use, and are dosed at levels that produce a genuine clinical effect. Many over-the-counter supplements use cheap, inactive forms of nutrients that need to be converted by your body before they can be used. The ingredient on the label is what is actually in the capsule. If you are buying your supplements off iherb (American online retail shop), you have no idea about the quality of the ingredients or where they were manufactured.
Not available without a clinical reason and prescription from a qualified practitioner
Practitioner-only products require a valid prescription from a qualified practitioner. This restriction exists because therapeutic-dose supplementation should be clinically guided, not self-prescribed. If you have a "health coach" recommending you supplements, they are not adequately trained to prescribe them and could cause you more harm than good.
