Why do I need a follow up nutritionist appointment?
Healing is not a straight line. Your plan should reflect that.

Benefits of ongoing dietary support sessions:
A treatment plan that made sense at your first appointment may need adjusting three weeks later. Symptoms shift, test results come in, and your body responds in ways that require recalibration. Follow-up consultations are where real progress happens.
Most clients are scheduled for follow-up every three to four weeks, depending on their goals, the complexity of their case, and whether functional testing is involved.
A structured review of your progress and plan

Your follow-up appointment includes

COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an initial consultation before booking a follow-up?
Yes. Follow-up appointments are for existing clients who have already completed an initial consultation. If you are new to the clinic, please begin with an initial appointment.

How often should I book follow-up appointments with my nutritionist?
Most clients are scheduled every three to four weeks, particularly in the early stages of treatment. As symptoms improve and your plan becomes more stable, the gap between appointments can extend. Your practitioner will guide this based on your individual progress.

What if I have received functional test results since my last appointment?
Functional test results are reviewed and interpreted within your follow-up appointment. If your results are particularly detailed or require a dedicated session for interpretation, a Pathology Interpretation appointment may be more appropriate.

What happens at a nutrition follow-up appointment?
At a nutrition follow-up consultation at Perth Nutrition and Natural Health Clinic, Renae reviews your progress since your last appointment, assesses any changes in your symptoms, and adjusts your nutrition and lifestyle plan accordingly. This may include updating your supplement protocol, reviewing functional test results if applicable, identifying any new patterns or drivers to address, and setting clear priorities for your next phase of treatment. Every follow-up is structured around where you are right now, not where you were at your initial consultation.

Do I need to bring anything to my nutrition follow-up appointment?
For your follow-up consultation, it is helpful to bring any new pathology results or functional test results you have received since your last appointment, along with a note of any changes to your medications or supplements. If you have been tracking symptoms, energy levels, bowel habits, or dietary changes, having that information ready helps Renae assess your progress accurately and make the most informed adjustments to your plan.

Can my supplement plan change at a follow-up appointment?
Yes. Supplement recommendations are reviewed and adjusted at every follow-up consultation based on your progress, symptom changes, and any new test results. Supplements are not intended to be taken indefinitely without review. Part of Renae's approach is using supplements strategically for a defined purpose and timeframe, then reassessing whether they are still needed, whether the dose should change, or whether something new should be introduced based on your current clinical picture.

How long is the follow-up appointment for GI Map and functional test results in Perth?
Functional test and pathology results appointments at Perth Nutrition and Natural Health Clinic run for 60 minutes.
This includes the GI Map Results Consultation, DUTCH hormone testing review, advanced thyroid panel interpretation, and any other functional or general pathology results.

The 60-minute appointment is designed to give you a thorough understanding of what your results actually mean for your health, rather than simply being told a result is normal, low, or high. Renae takes the time to explain each marker in plain language, connect your findings to your symptoms, and build a personalised nutrition and supplement plan directly from your results.

Can I book a follow-up appointment if I saw a different practitioner initially?
No. An initial consultation is still required at Perth Nutrition and Natural Health Clinic before follow-up appointments can be scheduled. This allows Renae to take a thorough assessment of your full health history, symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and current medications before developing a treatment plan.
If you have completed functional testing such as GI Map stool analysis, DUTCH hormone testing, or advanced thyroid panels with another practitioner, you are welcome to bring those results to your initial consultation. Having existing test results can provide a much clearer picture of where your health currently sits and allows Renae to develop a more targeted and appropriate treatment plan from the very first appointment, without needing to repeat testing unnecessarily.
